3D serving soccer with the Match Proof System
Production: Eridia
Producer: JC Erny
Broadcaster: Eurosport
In 2004, Eridia develops a system to three-dimensionally reproduce
game play, dedicated to soccer.
The Match Proof System or "MaP" is a production pipeline
capable of reproducing in 3D the movements of all the soccer players
on the field from a single video source.
European final 2000, France vs Italy. 103rd minute: It's Pires in
possession on the left wing, a daring shot through the opposing
defender’s legs, across to Trézéguet on the
right wing, who catches the ball on the volley, and... scores!

Now
we can replay the action in 3D from any angle. You’re running
along with Pires, you shoot with Trézéguet, you watch
the ball as it comes into the net!
Here’s the goalkeeper’s
view, the defender's
view, the attacker's
view and the wide-angle
view to better follow the play. MaP also allows for effects to be
applied such as Temporal
Remapping (slow-motion at varying speeds), Stop
Motion (the Matrix effect called “bullet time”)
or Time
Discontinuity (multi-angle effect). These effects help to understand
the action and heighten the game’s spectacular dimension.
