SALSA DU DEMON
Preproduction of a 3D video clip project
The
production company Paul Lederman plans to do a remake of the
‘80s hit "La Salsa Du Démon", sung by children.
Eridia answers the bid by proposing a synopsis, a theatrical universe,
psychological profiles of the characters and an overall graphic
design for the video.
The pitch: In their kids’ room transformed by their
imagination, two sisters and a brother disguise themselves, play
tricks on each other and quarrel.
To underscore the comic aspect and tone down the song’s lyrics,
the characters are given cartoon proportions (big head/little body).
The esthetics emphasize the lyrics’ sarcastic nature.
The characters are particularly cute regardless of their actions.
|
To
keep the focus on the characters, the room remains a more or less
blurry background from which objects, either inanimate or brought
to life by the siblings’ imagination, come forward.
Principal characters:
Belzébuth
: the little brother. A little, spontaneous brute who loves provoking
his sisters and playing dirty tricks on them. He’s the high-strung
one of the family.
Vampirella
: the eldest. The would-be pin-up. She plays at being grown-up,
torrid young ladies but her physique does not. She multiplies soap-opera
seduction attempts which fail lamentably. She revenges herself on
her dolls (the likes of Ken and Barbie). She also knows how to respond
to being provoked with the same vivacity as her brother.
La
sorcière : The most solitary of the three. She’s always
about her concoctions and potions. She often anticipates her brother’s
and sister’s "attacks" and responds to them intelligently
with a good dose of malice.
